allow teams to be associated to different competitions each season.
Sometimes, a club plays on one competition on one season, and changes to another on the next season (for example: goes from Second to First Division).
Now in Sportspress, competitions aren't linked to seasons, so if I add my team to First Division in 2016, it will appear on the table of First Division in every season, even in 2015 when my club played on Second Division. This also makes the filters useless.
So, for each season, you should be able to select in which competition participated each team.
Thanks!

it is just crazy that here we are, over 4 years later since this was recommended and still no movement or action. I do not even want to begin to think how many customers are actually paying for a "pro" function for this plugin, yet, the developers very rarely add any new features, or features that are actually useful.
The developers usually update the plugin monthly, but that is about it. They do that with the free version as well, so that is no benefit to having the pro feature. I do not mind paying for a fee, but when you have a community forum to express ideas, it is absurd to think it would take 4-5 years before they get implemented. I have only seen one MAYBE two big, major, additional updates to the plugin since I became a pro member 4 years ago.
Fortunately, it looks like JoomSport is finally WordPress compatible, and although pricey, it looks like they actually have every single feature AND their support replies back extremely quick with requests and new updates.

@manuel nunes -- your concept still causes a bunch of additional work by having to apply manual processes and update things annually. Additionally, player lists will have to be made new from complete scratch every new season; they cannot be duplicated from old player lists and then updated with new seasonal information. Theoretically, yes, that IS possible, however, I say it cannot be done because if you do go down that route, the plugin retains old information. So in example, Bob Fisher played in Europa League 2018/19 - Group B and this year Bob Fisher is playing in Europa League 2019/20 - Group A. If you duplicate last years player lists, and then manually update the information with the new 2020 league, the player list will not show Bob Fishers stats for the new season correctly because it still thinks he plays for Group B. You can update it as many times as you wish, but still will not work. Only way around that huge bug is to completely create a brand new player list and set the same options, but for the new year. THEN and ONLY then will the player stats show up correctly for the new season.

I have performed this with soccer Europa League
Europa League have 4 teams in each group A, group B, group C... (...)
then we have a Europa League every season. 2020/21, 2019/2020, 2018/2019 (...)
all you need to do is create a League Table wiht the name:for the team, set, all groups as they play in to, and all seasons, and they wil show only in the seasons and groups they are amnually picked
Europa League 2018/20 - Group A
Europa League 2018/19 - Group B
Europa League 2018/19 - Group C
(..)
Europa League 2019/20 - Group A
Europa League 2019/20 - Group B
Europa League 2019/20 - Group C
(...)
Than each rtable league instead of leaving "automatic" set it to manual, and a list of ALL TEAMS wil apear and you need to pick, only the correct team for each group in EACH SEASON
and they wil be perfectly fit, also set the order of the lower season like 100, than the recent seasons, lower, you can pick the same order number by season, as each team wil not play in more than one group in one season. -

This feature exists, all you need to do is make LEAGUE TABLES manual, and pick-up each teeam for each season.
Say you are considering a team that was in first league, then demoted do 2nd, then next season to 3rd, then to 2nd angain, and finally this season in first league.its looks like
Season 2016/17 First League
season 2017/18 -Secong League
seasom 2018/19 - Third League
season 2019/2020 Second League
Season 2020/2021 First Leagueall you need to do is set, team with all seasons, all leagues, and make individual League Tables manually, they you be kept perfectly like we want.

I've contacted technical support and told them the same thing, I don't think it's that difficult to organize it this way https://www.fspozodeguadalajara.com/zzzz_sportspress_structure_teams_relegation.png. It would take away a lot of headaches and together with another adjustment that I told you for the event lists https://www.fspozodeguadalajara.com/zzzleaguemanager.png, the absolutely perfect plugin would stay

This is a presales concern to me. This plugin is touted as being the best but it looks like it has some flaws. I'll reconsider my decision. So what is the use of having seasons when you have to create several leagues for each season as a workaround. What if you have hundreds of leagues to deal with? That's definitely a concern.

I cannot believe this issue exists. I have painstakingly entered over 300 fixtures for a season to find that after the first season is finished it will be completely messed up in the next season.
Additional logic is needed to specify what division a team played in in what season. The solution below works:
TO GET AROUND THIS ISSUE
Instead of applying each team to a league apply each league to a team as below:1. Create a parent League
2. Set up new divisions as children for each season I.e. 2020 Division 1, 2021 Division 1
3. Using the same teams, assign each team to each division depending on the season
4. Set up a new calendar per season/divisional season for archiving.
5. Set up new league tables per season for archiving. -

This really needs to be a top priority. I am blown away that a soccer plug-in for a pay-to-use sports league manager does not have this as an option. Soccer/Football leagues all over the world use promotion and relegation, so to not have this tenet available in this is pretty disappointing. I am willing to pay more to make this happen.

@savvas this feature is not yet available.. the option in sportspress only allows a player to show up for two teams IF they play for two teams in one year. The requested feature here is completely different. This is a bug in SportsPress and has been reported and the developers are aware of this. I have very long, detailed emails regarding this functionality and how it does not truly perform to its fullest. As of right now SportsPress is a mess if a player plays for more than one team in more than one division over any course of years. Because of this, player lists do not function properly and stats can be a mess.

almost three years and still no fix for this with a lot of votes smh.. a little disappointing. it just hit me this morning on how this would be an "easy" fix or one that would work splendidly.
when adding players to teams each year, you must click each individual player and select their team for the correct competition for that year. So if they played First Division in 2016 but Second Division in 2017, you have to select those options from a dropdown on each player profile right now so that the correct stats show up under their profile.
to fix this solution for the team issue, do something similar!! allow us an option on each team page in the backend to select the year and division the team is assigned to that year. For example, the Steelers team can allow me to assign the team to First Division in 2016 and Second Division in 2017.. Doing this would resolve this whole fiasco and headache of an issue and would allow us all to keep history accordingly without sacrificing a bunch of time or headaches on a "band-aid" work around that gets really sloppy with a bunch of duplicate work.. can this PLEASE be an update that gets released this year?! I will honestly pay additional for it if need be, but this would be an absolute lifesaver for a lot of people!

Had the same issue with teams being promoted/demoted.
Our solution was to create manual archives each season for each division and use a plugin to bulk move teams to the archive divisions to speed up the process. Works but over time will result in a long list of old divisions clogging up the system, plus the manual process of creating the archive and manual archive pages each season. -

Hi Vasil, can you help me with this.

I wrote lot of custom code in order to make this plugin in some way usable to manage sportsleague

We've added this issue, so we had to create them as separate leagues/tournaments each year.
For example
Example Tournament becomes Example Tournament 2016, it makes seasons and stuff useless. :(

Same issue as Players and Staff has in the Plugin.
The Plugin appears to view everything as a 1-to-1 relationship, where they should be 1-to-many based on year. And in some cases (Staff) it's impossible to assign a person to multiple jobs and have anything but the 1st assignment display.
It flat doesn't handle a staff promotion year-on-year and be able to retain historic data on the staff or player.
