Match Days
I am currently working on a football team website.
I've added a tournament (e.g. Barclays Premier League), then a season (e.g. 2014-2015).
For a big tournament (20 teams, each team plays 38 games in one season) it is hard to manage events.
It would be good to set up Match Days: Match Day 1, 2, 3, ...
When adding an event, the Match Day would be another option.
When on a list of all events an additional filter Match Day would help to navigate.

Thanks again for all your votes and comments on this idea! We’re pleased to announce that we’ve just released SportsPress v2.1 with an all new Match Days feature and many other improvements. Dear matchdays the option is a little incomplete, some details:
- I assign as many matches to a matchdays?
- The option to assign matchday in quick editing does not appear.
- If I put the short code event list, I do not have the option to separate by matchdays.I recommend you check how it works JoomLeague.

And I didn't see any advantage of taxonomy over fields.
Match day's are used only to group event's.Ohh and one more thing, text field > int field, egz Group A, B, C etc instead just of : 1,2,3, etc

Brian I think that "field method" will be the best.
We will be able to assign different match days IDs(#) to our events without creating them first.
One suggestion: add filter option by "field method" in SP shortcodes. -

Thank you kaisplanet and Adam for your votes.
Looking at the steps needed for each method:
= Field method =
1. Edit match
2. Enter match day #
3. Save match= Taxonomy method =
1. Create new match day
2. Enter match day name
3. Save match day
4. Edit match
5. Select match day
6. Save matchIt seems the taxonomy method would take 2x the number of steps to assign a new match day to an event. If the match day has already been created, the number of steps would be the same.
I'm wondering if there is any benefit to adding match days as a taxonomy rather than a field? We can always add filters to shortcodes etc, with either method.

I would vote for taxonomy that can be related to leagues and seasons.

I think it would taxonomy indicated, such as a serious entry wordpress, which is associated with several independent categories that are added levels behaves. Also currently presents the box "Details" to edit a match this good, we just need to add the corresponding matchday.
In this case a match of any sport should be associated with:
1. Competition (meets)
2. Season (meets)
3. Matchday (but not date range, what happens if a match is rescheduled due to rain for example, scrambles all)Note: When editing a game there is a choice, that is competitive or friendly, the matchdays should be made only for competitive matches.
Create a list template matches separated by matchdays, only selecting the competition and the season, as it exists today when editing a game in the box "Details".
For example JoomLeague to create matches for matchdays, has a matrix table listed vertically and horizontally teams, one selects the union which corresponds to a team vs another team and automatically creates the match.
You have an option of having created the matches of a wheel, has the option to automatically create the other wheel, because the matches are the same but only changes locally and away. One should only change the dates and times that correspond.
And the matches list automatically separated by matchdays.
Translated with google translate.

I'd like to explore the idea of adding match days to SportsPress, as it appears to be getting a lot of votes. While the plugin supported "Seasons" which can be used as match days ( as seen here: https://wordpress.org/support/topic/matchdays-rounds?replies=5 ), it's probably better to add this feature as a separate field.
A question for everyone: should match days be added as a text/number post meta field, or would you prefer adding it as a taxonomy?
1. Text/number post meta field - this would add a small input box where you could enter the match day ID to each event.
2. Taxonomy - each match day would need to be created by the user, like seasons, and leagues, then they can be selected from each event's edit screen.
All feedback is welcome and appreciated :)

Yes, it's a very important problem !

Dates or matchdays should be organized by the number of day games and not by the dates that the party is made, as for example the unexpected happens, bad weather, stadium can not use, team must play game international, etc. the game is rescheduled for another date, you can not correctly identify the day of matches in full.
That is, if a party of the second date is rescheduled for two weeks later, affect the following dates and did not show the date corresponding to that game correctly. a field which indicate that date corresponds to each party and group them according to that lack, so does the JoomLeague Joomla extension.
Cheers

In my league systems, during league drawing match dates are not clear, but matchdays (rounds) are clear. So now i add 01/01/9999 to matches and in php i write custom codes. :(( And i added your recommend about adding matchday to season. But it is a heavy data entry. Please add matchdays to events and filter in everywhere (shotcodes, widgets etc.)

A match number would also be really helpful when searching.

I absolute agree!
We have several leagues with weekly matchdays. A separation would be so much easier for our users.PS.: What a nice plug-in.
