I've just come across this same situation, Z. The site in question has a total of nine conferences ("competitions"). I've created a global "playoffs" page with the intent of providing a go-to source for schedules and brackets, but unfortunately, the participating teams have yet to be determined.

I've tried creating "placeholder" teams with generic names like "1st seed", "2nd seed", etc., however once the teams are selected, there does not appear to be any easy way to edit them.

It looks like I will be forced to omit the brackets altogether until the teams have been determined, using just text elements in their place. Once the teams are known, I can create and insert the brackets, but this is obviously going to be quite an inconvenience - perhaps not for me, but this is a function I would like to hand off to the client.

I came here to post this exact suggestion! The ability to assign officials and use SportsPress as a scheduling solution for referees would be huge!

I'm in the process of attempting a workaround using "Team Staff" that are assigned to every team in every league, but it looks like it's shaping up to be clunky at best.

    Update / Edit:

Looking more closely, it seems that you CAN include the "Match Day" variable when importing, as long as you choose to import data as "Fixtures" (not "Events"). It also appears that importing as fixtures removes some other statistical fields, which are not relevant to my site but may be for others.

Still no sign of "Match Day" in the quick-edit or bulk edit on the admin side though, so editing my 200+ existing events is still looking like a daunting (or at least very time-consuming) task.

Great suggestion. I'm working on an American Football league, and the ability to filter by week (or preferably, custom date range) would be very useful!
