Old post I know, but isn't this what player lists are for?

Even an option in the dropdown on the players/events etc page, where multiple lines could be checked, and then there is an option for "merge" could be a quicker way of doing it, if giving less options

I currently do something similar when I need to merge player records using SQL:
    UPDATE wp_postmeta
SET `meta_value` = REPLACE(`meta_value`,'[ID TO BE REPLACED]', '[ID TO BE RETAINED]')

This replaces the "wrong" player id with the correct one in all instances where it appears in the wp_postmeta table, which means the correct player then appears in any and all games the duplicate player did appear. Stats etc are then correct as well. The incorrect player still exists, simply without having played any games etc. Only drawbacks of this process are:
    a) incorrect record still exists
    b) any seasons/competitons etc added to the wrong player are not brought across

These issues could perhaps be resolved with the more comprehensive merge screen suggested in the initial post

Highest score in a match across a season, or seasons, would be amazing. Added to this could be the ability to have best season results i.e. most goals in a season, compared across seasons.

While this is done on a player level, an extension could be to have team based records too (winning %, goals scored etc for example) to compare historical data.

Not ideal, but I've managed to use the Matchdays field to achieve this, in combination with changing the display text in Sportspress -> Settings -> Text

Live scoring would make this plugin an absolute dream. It looks like progress is being made towards this with the 2.3 update, and even if we had to save the page after each score, that would still be a useful feature, to be able to increment scores etc against a player with buttons, as opposed to entering a string into the field.

I would love this too. As an admin of a sports league with multiple grades, the ability to filter by competition would be a plus too. Even if this was an add-on plugin, I would purchase it, as it allows for monetisation of the site. Obviously the player data is already there, and using the existing options (especially the functions) in the "Configure" screen, I feel this could be a real plus for Sportspress

For what it's worth, this is the most requested feature I get from the competition sites I run
